Test pattern generator for video mapping calibration

Test pattern generator for flat projections, domes, spheres and LED walls. Built for AV integrators who calibrate a system on site and want a clean, crisp, high-resolution PNG. Pick the surface, set resolution, physical dimensions and elements (grid, crosshair, circles, diagonals, cartouche), export. LED patterns handle pitch, panel dimensions and letter/number tagging. Dome and sphere patterns expose longitude/latitude subdivisions.

Real-world use cases

  • Edge blend alignment: generate a 100 px grid pattern to check the overlap between two projectors on site.
  • LED wall acceptance: export a pattern with per-panel numbering to quickly spot a dead panel or a reversed cable.
  • 360° dome calibration: build a 4K pattern with an equatorial grid and longitude subdivisions to validate alignment across several projectors.
  • Pre-install client briefing: send a pattern carrying the client logo and project name in the cartouche, ready to print for sign-off.
  • Color screen test: export a solid custom background pattern (exact hex color) to measure color drift between two sources.

Frequently asked questions

Which export formats are available?
High-resolution PNG up to the requested native resolution. The canvas matches the chosen resolution, no upscaling. Works with Adobe, Resolume, Modulo, Watchout, MadMapper and any media server that reads PNG.
What's the difference between a dome and a sphere pattern?
The dome pattern covers a half-sphere (typically a planetarium) with a square 1:1 fish-eye projection. The sphere pattern covers a full globe with an equirectangular 2:1 mapping and configurable longitude/latitude subdivisions.
How do I set up a pattern for an LED wall?
Enter the pitch (mm), the number of horizontal and vertical panels, and the panel dimensions. The tool derives the total resolution, draws the panel borders and applies numbering (digits or letters) so each panel can be spotted at a glance.
Can I brand the pattern with a client logo or project name?
Yes. The cartouche supports free text (project name, client, date) and the background color can be set precisely in hex to match a brand guideline.
Does it run on tablet or phone?
The tool runs in any recent browser, but pixel accuracy and comfort require a screen at least 1280 px wide. On site, bring a laptop.
