Scoping & design

Validate your project feasibility before committing your budget

The problem

You receive quotes from vendors, but you don't have the keys to compare them. Amounts vary threefold, technical jargon escapes you, and nobody on your team can validate that the choices hold up. You're flying blind.

The risk? A budget that explodes, a poorly chosen vendor, or a technical fiasco on opening night in front of your client.

The solution

I provide the independent technical perspective your team is missing. Feasibility, equipment, budget: we validate everything together before you commit.

What I do for you

Quote audit

I break down your vendors' proposals and tell you what holds up, what's missing, and what's overpriced.

Feasibility + budget validation

Is it technically realistic? How much should it cost? I give you a reliable budget envelope so you can decide with confidence.

D-day technical supervision

I'm your technical reference during installation. If something goes off track, I catch it before it gets expensive.

Tender response support

Responding to a tender? I structure the technical section so your submission is credible and complete.

"A huge thank you to Baptiste Jaze for his invaluable expertise in installing our immersive system. Thanks to him, our complex setup (28 servers, 104 Epson projectors) works flawlessly. His rigor, teaching skills and commitment, even working remotely from France, made all the difference."

A real case: technical scoping on the Arc de Triomphe

Context

The Arc de Triomphe hosts a monumental video projection during national events. Seven editions, more than a million spectators in total. Each edition starts from a different creative brief and a budget to scope before any commitment.

The challenge

The monument is 50 metres wide, the projection runs from the Champs-Elysees with heavy road and safety constraints. A sizing error on lumens or projector count costs tens of thousands of euros, and the setup window is measured in hours.

My approach

I scoped the technical feasibility upfront: the brightness needed against residual urban lighting, the projector count and their lenses, the validation of firing positions from the available space. All delivered as a reliable budget envelope, before the producer signed anything.

Result

Zero technical incident across the seven editions. The producer could arbitrate the budget with full knowledge, and challenge contractor quotes on a solid basis.

What you get

A written feasibility report, with blocking points identified and their solutions
A budget envelope costed by line item: hardware, installation, content
The hardware specification: projector count, lumens, lenses, servers
A realistic setup schedule, based on the actual calibration time
The written audit of the contractor quotes received, with what holds and what is missing
A point of contact throughout the project if you take the follow-up

Frequently asked questions

When in the project should I bring you in?

As early as possible, ideally before signing with a contractor. That is where my eye has the most value: once the hardware is ordered, the room to manoeuvre is thin. Upstream scoping costs a fraction of the budget and avoids the errors that get paid for at setup.

What types of projects do you work on?

Monument facades, event scenographies, immersive installations, 360 experiences. From a handful of projectors for a booth to over a hundred for a permanent venue. In France and internationally.

Do you replace my technical contractor?

No. I validate that their approach holds up, I do not do the work in their place. The good contractors welcome an outside eye, it secures them too.

How long does the scoping take?

A simple feasibility check goes out within 48 hours. A full scoping with hardware specifications and detailed costing takes one to three weeks depending on project complexity.
